launched a new slot machine cabinet in North America that it says combines the technology strengths of its parent, Australia’s Aristocrat Leisure Ltd, and that of the group’s 2014 acquisition, Video Gaming Technologies Inc (VGT).

‘Stepper’ machines as a casino game product category hark back to the early days of slot machine technology, with oversize reels and pull handles. Nowadays, the technology inside them typically combines state-of-the-art video gaming technology with the latest electro-mechanical features.

According to Thursday’s press release, the RELM cabinet features a mechanical button deck; chrome detailing on its arm and speakers; and a 23-inch, high-definition, monitor. When a win is recorded, a mechanical bell sounds.

The RELM cabinet has been launched with a total of eight game titles: “7 Salute”; “7 Paradise”; “Triple 7 Wildfire Double”; “Golden Flower”; “Crazy 7s”; “Ancient Pearl”; “Red Odyssey”; “Double Gold Spin”; “Double Hot Fire”; and “3x 7 2x Lotus”.

Credit rating institution Fitch Ratings Inc said in an October credit outlook report on the leading suppliers of casino electronic games, it viewed “favourably” the Aristocrat group’s “improved diversification” via its acquisition of VGT – a U.S.-based specialist in so-called Class II, or ‘tribal gaming’ market products – and Aristocrat’s 2012 purchase of Product Madness, a social game developer.
